Day 11

Greetings from Planet Interferon. Alter a brief vacation I’m back to this strange world. This is actually a good thing, as crappy as it makes me feel to be here. I met yesterday with my oncologist and not only did my blood work check out OK but the staph infection in my groin also appears to have been tamed by the antibiotics. Because of the earlier problems I had with liver enzymes, my dose of interferon is now two-thirds of what it was—40 million units down to about 26 MU. That may sound like a lot, but it really isn’t. It only takes about 15 minutes to be administered by IV (followed by a liter of saline).

I felt poorly last night, but have rebounded this morning. I know the drill at this point, and my mental attitude is better about getting through this. I’m now officially more than half way there. The lower dose should help to make things more manageable. Planet INF is starting to look a lot more like Earth.
