Running a 10k this morning was like old times, only in slow motion. I finished in about 58 minutes—14 minutes slower than my last 10k but under the hour I set as my goal. No one is likely to contest my claim of finishing first among over-50 cancer survivors. It was great to do something healthy and fun, especially on such a gorgeous morning. Ellen even came out to see me as the runners passed through the neighborhood. She’s not running yet, but is getting stronger every day.

Peter: Glad that you finished and proud that you came in First. I feel much better about your health (especially mental) after this latest blog compared to the last. Keep the weekend in October "penciled in."

Peter,
Its great to read that running is bringing you such pleasure and that you are able to compete in races. As you well know, the "winner" in such a race isn't always the fastest runner. I continue to uphold both you and Ellen in my prayers and am glad to read that Ellen is recovering from her second surgery. May God continue to bless you both.
Your brother in Christ,

Peter,
Great job on the race--that's faster than I'd have run it on three legs. I'm sure it's nice to feel like you're doing something that's 100% good for your body for a change. I hope you do more races. Looking forward to you perhaps coming down here in October sometime. Meanwhile, send me an note to test whether our e-mail glitch has resolved itself...
Take it easy--

Peter, Hi... Deana Tipler here! It has been so long since I have seen you, but feel that I know you well through Brad. Anyhow, just wanted to pass on that we have your blog in our FAVS and I check into it every couple of days and enjoy your writing so much. You are truly gifted and the fact that you completed this run is amazing~! Good for you! Just wanted you to know that we are thinking of you and will pray for your continued strength. Deana
Hey Peter,
Thanks for being a good listener.
Thank you for your consistent
and strong walk with the Lord
as He leads you through this.
I heard an interesting statistic a
while back. Apparently, in most human organizations, approx. 20%
of the people do 80% of the work,
most all of the time. AND,here's
the kicker: The 20%,according to the statistics, dont feel real good
most of the time, for one reason or
another. Though I cannot fully verify this stastic, I find it
verified in the works of faith
that I see being demonstrated in
the lives of my brothers and sisters,as they deal with trials
and tribulations,illnesses and etc.
With God's help, we will soar like
eagles,in spite of illnesses, setbacks and trials.
God Bless Ya Peter

Peter, it's great that you finished the 10K, and a real bonus to go under one hour. It's been years since I could do that and I used to be an accomplished distance runner. Your persistence to live is an inspiration to all of us that know you. Hang in there, Bud, and I will come by this week for a visit. You are in my prayers. Eric S.
