Training update: I feel like a slacker with the Portland Marathon only 10 days away. I stopped all long runs two weeks ago when my IT band started acting up, and since have only been cycling, speed-walking and taking short runs (under five miles). I’ve also been icing at least twice a day, popping Advil like candy, and doing my stretches by the book. So far, I’ve stayed below the pain threshold and, hopefully, reduced the inflammation in my ITB. We’ll see on Oct. 4.
