and now elation

Much to my surprise, I heard from my oncologist just minutes ago that other than a suspicious nodule in my left leg, which I already knew was there, my PET scan was negative. There is no sign of mets in the internal organs. What a huge relief. Nick and Allie were here for the ensuing celebration. When the phone rang, I was startled to see that it was someone from Good Samaritan calling, knowing it could only mean one thing. I’m so relieved to be over that hurdle. There’s much yet to consider, but at least I know I’ve avoided the worst of a bad situation.

Peter,
Yes! Such great news! I have been reading your blog for awhile now, drawing on your strength and faith to help me learn to live in joy in the present. I have melanoma as well, stage 3c with a recurrence after 9 months of interferon, radiation and leukine. You are such a pillar of strength with such grace and have such a gift of words. Thank you.
I am holding you and your family in my prayers.
