Tonight was Allie’s last before leaving for Nicaragua, so I was delighted to be of mostly sound mind. The four of us had dinner together, and we then had a great time singing and praying together. God was with us. Ellen will be up in the middle of the night to drive Allie to PDX for her 6 a.m. flight. We’ve loved having her home for the last two weeks, even if I haven’t been in primo condition. I should be in much better shape by the time Allie comes home July 4.

Peter: Thinking of you tonight. Dave forwarded me the information on your illness. Know that you and Ellen and kids are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope to get up your way sometime this year!

Peter,
Your blogs continually bring to mind Hebrews 12, prompting the image of a certain guy running a Massachusetts marathon--or it might be the other way around. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith...."
Thanks for letting us in on this leg of your faith journey. It's a gift to us readers, you know. From our own trekking and pedalling together, I know your stamina and determination. I have every confidence you'll make these 26 miles. And you continue to show us all--no surprise here, either--Who your eyes are fixed on.
Joe
